The Event and Volunteer Coordinator (40 hours/week) plays a key role in bringing LakewoodAlive’s mission to life through vibrant community events and meaningful volunteer engagement. This position works closely with the Executive Director, staff, board members, and dedicated volunteers to plan and execute events while supporting volunteer coordination across programs, including Housing Outreach.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Coordinate, in partnership with staff and volunteers, all aspects of event logistics, planning, and administration for events, including but not limited to: Birdtown Picnic, Front Porch Concert Series, Summer Meltdown, Spooky Pooch Parade, Chocolate Walk, Light Up Lakewood and Loving Lakewood.
  • Support and coordinate volunteer committees throughout the year, including day-of event execution
  • Collaborate with the Internal Events team to develop and track event work plans
  • Coordinate with vendors, partners, and suppliers to ensure successful event delivery
  • Partner with the Housing Outreach Manager to support volunteer coordination efforts for program initiatives
  • Recruit, manage, and communicate with non-board volunteers supporting events, projects, and programs
  • Support volunteer cultivation process and recognition efforts
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment and support cross-departmental collaboration

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred 1+ year of experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, or a related field
  • Must have the ability to remain on your feet for extended periods of time and safely lift and move materials up to 20lbs
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to build relationships with and motivate a diverse group of volunteers
  • High energy, outgoing, and a genuine passion for LakewoodAlive’s mission and community impact
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed, specific to LakewoodAlive events schedule
  • High level of interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and professionalism
  • Ability to travel locally
  • Experience in marketing, communications, or event promotion is a plus, but not required

COMPENSATION

  • Annual salary range $40,000 - $45,000 based on experience, paid time off, holidays including one week off at the end of December / Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) for medical expenses and premiums / 403B retirement account.
